The CC32 firmware also features several advantages that require no additional software or configuration on the part of the user.The Barracuda drive is a full-size 3.5-inch form factor HDD with an SATA 6GB/s interface and 64MB cache size. This supports a high-speed access rate for the very large 2TB SATA drive and delivers low-latency input and output. This is one of the higher speed SATA connections for a hard drive of this size with a matching mounting post layout. This allows it to be added easily to systems with an available 3.5-inch hard drive slot, regardless of the original system's age or the size of other drives in the system.Seagate's SmartAlign technology allows for a seamless transition from the traditional 512-sector format to the Advanced Format (AF) 4K sector design. This eliminates the risk of partition misalignments and performance issues when migrating to this drive from an older legacy system. The AF sector design allows hardware to read from newer, larger hard disks in larger chunks. By doing this, it vastly improves data throughput rates and the speed of the drive while conserving energy. The SmartAlign technology is built into the hard drive and requires no additional utilities, software, or configuration steps at all. Just connect the new 2TB Barracuda to an available SATA 6GB/s port, mount to a slot, and everything's done.The Seagate Barracuda is compatible with any standard external SATA drive enclosure designed for use with 3.5-inch form factor drives. This makes the Seagate Barracuda useful as a backup drive. It can also be used for migrating data and information between different systems.
