The book I bought arrived in the described condition (new), the packaging was simple but served its purpose well. I'm satisfied with the process. It did not arrive on time but the seller DID deliver the product on time, so I'm assuming it had nothing to do with them and it was rather the transportation company who delayed the shipping.
