I'll clarify that it was my mistake for not returning the item within the date specified by ebay (late by 1 day, as I was out of the area) however it seems unreasonable that the seller would absolutely refuse a return on an unopened item even when emailed privately. Clearly they aren't worried about return customers.

I did receive a refund eventually but since several others have had the same issue, I probably will not purchase from seller again. Could be that the seller’s local post office just sucks, but I will avoid this seller in the future to avoid this situation again.
