My scanner, a Uniden SC230, is fairly old and I simply couldn't get my computer to communicate with the scanner with this cable. I don't know where the problem lies but I can't rule out the issue being with the SC230. Since the cable has a somewhat specific device end connection, I don't have anyway to test out the cable (the SC230 is the only device I have with that mini-serial connector). The seller was helpful and very responsive. I simply gave up.
