Synopsis
The sparkling story of a young boy born in 1944, who grew up on the banks of the Grand Canal in Dublin's Portobello Road. Desmond, an awkward boy, romps through his childhood like a bockety bicycle that won't quite go where it is steered. His playground is the Grand Canal, where in the company of his equally bockety (lopsided, rickety, unstable) friends, he goes crashing through the reeds in search of adventure. A glorious tale of a time when few cars existed and boys hid behind doors and listened and tried to make sense of it all while the mams talked and smoked., This is the story of a young boy born in 1944 who grew up on the banks of the Grand Canal on Dublin's Portobello Road.

- e***n (36)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseThe seller did a very fine job. The book was shipped out quickly (unfortunately the USPS saw fit to counteract that by hauling it from Maine to Colorado, then on a 3-day side excursion to Phoenix Arizona & back to Colorado, before finally getting on toward Oregon - the seller can't control that), safely packed, & in the nice condition described. It's too bad that all of those points are becoming rarer from so many merchants of late. This seller is one of the good ones.Reply from: statelyjanemanor- Feedback replied by seller statelyjanemanor.- Feedback replied by seller statelyjanemanor. My heart to you.
