Nintendo's savvy professor with the stovepipe hat marks his 3DS debut by heading to the carnival city of Monte d'Or to investigate a masked villain in Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. As always, gamers join the professor and his assistants Emmy and Luke as they explore their surroundings, talk with residents, and solve dozens of logic puzzles. The investigation soon leads them to find a mysterious artifact that may explain why the professor's friend disappeared 18 years earlier.<br><br>Puzzle scenarios are presented on the top screen, with players using their stylus and touch screen to solve puzzles and earn Picarats. Gamers receive the maximum number of Picarats if they find the solution on their first try, but they can also use Hint Coins if they get stuck on any particular puzzle. Miracle Mask also includes a variety of mini-games for those who want to test their wits outside of the main storyline, and gamers can download one new puzzle every day for a year after the game's release.
