Reviews
"Any new Susan Isaacs book is a cause for celebration, and this adroit, witty, warmhearted novel, with a heroine you'll cheer for until the final page, is an absolute treat." -- Jennifer Weiner, author of Goodnight Nobody and Good in Bed, "Nobody does smart, gutsy, funny, sexy women better than Susan Isaacs.... A merrily observant, moving, and -- as always with Isaacs -- very entertaining novel." -- The Washington Post, "Any new Susan Isaacs book is a cause for celebration, and this adroit, witty, warmhearted novel, with a heroine you'll cheer for until the final page, is an absolute treat."-- Jennifer Weiner, author ofGoodnight NobodyandGood in Bed, "A witty, warm-hearted novel, with a heroine you'll cheer for until the final page...an absolute treat." -- Jennifer Weiner, author of Goodnight Nobody, "Any new Susan Isaacs book is a cause for celebration, and this adroit, witty, warmhearted novel, with a heroine you'll cheer for until the final page, is an absolute treat."-- Jennifer Weiner, author of "Goodnight Nobody" and "Good in Bed"
Synopsis
Now in paperback, Isaacs's humorous and poignant "New York Times" bestseller about a young woman whose search for her mother becomes a search for a place to belong. RWell-written, very funny, and incredibly smart.S--"O, The Oprah Magazine.", Amy wasn't born to fortune. Her mother abandoned her before her first birthday and her father couldn't handle anything as conventional as parenting. Amy worked for her luck. At age fourteen, she got herself a scholarship to a New England boarding school, then to Harvard, then to Columbia School of Journalism. She's smart, she's enterprising, but after a few years as a reporter for a prestigious magazine, she doesn't know who she is or how to connect.

Seller feedback (5,893,418)
- e***- (122)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseUnfortunately I received a damaged book, the item and the package both were damaged and it was clearly evident its appearance that it happened during transit. The seller was very understanding and gave me a full refund for the damaged book, though it was no fault of their own. Other than the damage, the book was as described, the quality and condition aside from the damaged spot was like new. The cost of the book was reasonable. I would definitely purchase from the seller again.
- v***v (2107)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseAlthough this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate. How to chalk talk, by Harlan Tarbell (#197064259889)
- 5***i (71)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseArrived on time. Packaging was lacking, product damaged in two places during shipping due to inadequate padding within the packaging. I can live with it seeing as I don't want to hunt down and pay for another copy... Item was as described minus the damage to the spine of the book in one place from the thin plastic wrapping not providing any rigidity or padding. This is the first time I have encountered this problem with this Fantastic seller. Excellent value. Thank you
