Item brand new in the wrapper as described, but unfortunately it actually arrived cracked in the wrapper. It appears to have been crushed at some point in the post. Was posted in a cardboard "Lil mailer" (patent pending), which is a bit sturdier than a padded jiffy bag, but it seems even these don't do the job.
