The fourth installment of the stealth action series may have made the Playstation 3 a must have console. Join Solid Snake in his last mission to undo past sins and chart a better future. "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Limited Edition" can be the ultimate edition for collectors and casual fans alike. This PlayStation 3 game features the main character from previous Metal Gear Solid games, Solid Snake, along with other returning Metal Gear faces. Snake, prematurely aged but determined to fight, must assassinate his nemesis, Liquid Ocelot. He must also stop Liquid from gaining access to an A.I. called the Sons of the Patriots. This A.I. controls private military companies around the globe, making it the ultimate threat. The fourth version of Metal Gear Solid tells a story that promises to unite past and present plot threads all in one grand farewell on the PS3. "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" continues the tradition of the previous games in the series. Stealth and close quarters combat are back, with a streamlined over the shoulder camera. The game is in third person perspective, making it similar to more traditional shooter video games. Rated M for Mature by the ESRB, blood, violence, and strong themes abound throughout this third person shooter, which can be enjoyed by 1-4 players. Metal Gear Solid always pushed the envelope, and the gameplay in the Guns of the Patriots limited edition can be clear evidence of that. A feature was introduced in this Metal Gear game for the PlayStation 3. Psyche Meter measures Solid Snake’s stress gauge can increase based on several elements around him, including bad smells and active enemies. These stressors deplete his Psyche, taking battlefield psychology to a whole new, meta level. Low Psyche makes it difficult for Snake to aim, and it increases the possibility that he’ll pass out if he takes damage. Carefully maneuver through enemy territory, switching between stealth and CQC as you see fit to survive. Though he’s older, Snake is none the worse for wear in this game for the PS3. He has an eye patch that allows him to see radar and infrared signals, and he sports an OctoCamo suit. This takes on the appearance of any surface, allowing you to blend seamlessly into the background and avoid discovery. Snake can also use a small support robot to help him in combat. Its in game functions are largely for codec uses, and it also allows you to access the game menu. The robot can also be used to stun enemies and interact with the environment, and there’s also a VR simulation for players to test out abilities. This version of MGS4 includes more than this smash hit game for the PS3. Guns of the Patriots Limited Edition also includes a soundtrack CD, featuring songs composed by Harry Gregson-Williams. This version also has two making of documentaries, and four chapters of the graphic novel that inspired the gaming franchise. Fans of the Metal Gear Solid games and any PS3 owner may not want to miss the chance to own this exquisite release.
