Additional information
Elektric Music: Karl Bartos, Lothar Manteuffel. Apparently, the elongated working process by which Kraftwerk operates has made members Karl Bartos and Emil Schult restless. As a result, the pair formed Elektric Music to continue their exploration of the electronic frontier. ESPERANTO navigates the same techno-pop waters as Kraftwerk's ELECTRIC CAFE but with considerably more commercial verve. OMD's Andy McCluskey even lends the feel of his "band" to two of the eight tracks. ESPERANTO's orbital be-bop is fetchingly catchy, expertly programmed, and irresistible, essaying the same obsessions with the machinations of life ("TV," "Show Business," "Information") that Kraftwerk legitimized. The electronics dance and oscillate in the best BPM style--the patterns infectious and melodic, the tone as catchy and buoyant as anything Kraftwerk has done in this now post-Kratwerk era. After all this time, it's cool to see that Bartos, while he hasn't traveled all that far down the Autobahn, at least knows how to show off the view.
