With this recording, the Singknaben of the St. Ursus Cathedral in Solothurn impressively prove that they are at home in all musical styles and epochs. Old masters meet modern contemporaries. The varied program includes double-choir motets by Giovanni Croce and Sebastian Knüpfer, Mendelssohn's incomparable "Richte mich, Gott" ("Judge Me, O God") as well as sacred and secular works by Ivo Antognini, Paul Mealor and Jake Runestad. Under the direction of an omnipresent Andreas Reize, the choir captivates the listener from the very beginning with the harmony of beautiful, bright boys' and powerful men's voices. The Singknaben demonstrate a virtuosity and musical flexibility that is extraordinary among boys' choirs these days.
