I did not cut my tailpipe, I installed it far enough out from the fender to be seen well and be functional and you really can’t see the actual tailpipe unless you get down and look hard. I used a bead of clear adhesive sealant the first inch around on the tailpipe. It helps keep tip from moving, and makes a “damper for vibration. And you can still remove it if and when you might need to. Don’t glob it on, thin film is good. Perfect
