I used it for drilling deep holes in wood which it easily managed, though the flutes needed regularly clearing as wood shavings build, which can bind the drill and slow down the cutting process. It would wear while drilling steel, and would need repeated clearing of the flutes to clear swarf and admit coolant as all long series drills do, but I'd be happy to use it! but being High Speed Steel (HSS) it should be fine!
