Synopsis
An original history of man's greatest adventure: his search to discover the world around him. In the compendious history, Boorstin not only traces man's insatiable need to know, but also the obstacles to discovery and the illusion that knowledge can also put in our way. Covering time, the earth and the seas, nature and society, he gathers and analyzes stories of the man's profound quest to understand his world and the cosmos.

I can definitely recommend this book. A lot of good in it, plus media. I have the same book, except for banjo. I bought this book thinking I could learn my new mandola from it, as I was told you can use any teaching meant for the mandolin, but I quickly found out this is not true. I could tune it down a whole octave but then it sounds like a sick cow. Paid lessons it is then.
I say this because I asked to return it and he was so nice about it So I can also highly recommend the seller.
