It lowers the percentage when I’m cooking slightly or when I put a candle next to it but, I was looking forward to an air purifier that’s more for dust than smells or smoke. It also melted like olives or garlicky. Not sure where they are housed. The outside looked clean and new though. I had to wipe the inside and hoped that also removed the smell. I would give it more of a 3.5 stars
