I bought the 6-12v. I ran 6v through it and I could hear the hum but no loud crackling sparks. There was plasma arcing through both leads most of the way up. I had twisted them together so that i could quickly adjust the spark gap. I have done thisbefore on the other ones and they all work fine. So I separated the wire and made them into a circle, with a 1cm gap. No crackle but a plasma arc that immediately started melting the wires. Attach nails to wire ends and all good, but will burn anything
