About this product

Product Information

How on earth did 'with bells on' come to express enthusiasm? Why is good health compared to a small stringed instrument? ('As fit as a fiddle.') And what do pickles have to do with quandaries? Let's not beat about the bush: despite the fact that we have all used these phrases at one time or another, and even enjoyed expressing them, they are in truth - when you take a moment to consider them - completely senseless and utterly fantastical. We all know what somebody means when they use these phrases due to our common knowledge of them, but it wouldn't be surprising if, when asked to explain them, you found that the cat had got your tongue, or you simply clammed up! Spilling the Beans on the Cat's Pyjamas provides us with the meanings to these well-worn and much-loved phrases by putting these linguistic quirks in context, and explaining how and why they were first used. Absorbing, diverting and fascinating - as far as Christmas gifts go, Spilling the Beans really is the bee's knees!

Chiron media provide a great service. It arrived promptly in decent condition considering the edition. There was a small issue with the advertised edition of the book and the one I received. However when I spoke to the seller, they were courteous, understanding and were equitable in their approach to resolving my query. This book was great value for money. I would definitely recommend the quality service provided by this seller.

Excellent experience, these are probably the best large bookseller warehouse on eBay , their customer service is personal and responsive and they endeavour to make sure the buyers experience is a good one . Despatched promptly, and this time it was a paperback so it was ok in a polythene envelope. If you are purchasing a heavy hardback , I suggest contacting them in advance, and hopefully they will have implemented robust cardboard packaging to ensure it doesn't get damaged in the post.

Goods as described and good communication thanks. Royal Mail let the seller down by not delivering on time. Royal mail messaged me on three different days to say the goods out for delivery but never turned up. Post persons apparently pick and choose when and what they want to deliver in a rural area. No fault of seller.
