The Seagate Constellation ES ST3500514NS is a fifth-generation high-capacity enterprise internal hard drive that is available in a Serial ATA (SATA) interface that runs at 3gb/s. Manufactured to deliver enterprise-class reliability, it enables highly efficient storage solutions through its 500GB (32MB cache) up to 2TB SATA capacity and is optimized to provide efficient cooling and power for a lasting lifespan. Optimum data security and absolute reliability are also among the priorities of the Seagate Constellation ES. The hard drive comes in a 3.5-inch traditional form factor, which provides higher storage capacity for half the price and is compatible with most desktop computers. The Seagate Constellation ES ST3500514NS hard drive features a top cover motor designed specifically to tolerate rotational vibration better than older HDD SATA, effectively increasing its lifespan and durability. With an MTBF of 1.2 million hours, the HDD is expected to deliver efficient and high-capacity results and fewer chances of write operation failure over the course of its life. This nearline SATA drive is designed for use in mission-critical environments and works reliably even under a 24x7 operation. This makes the Seagate Constellation ES ST3500514NS hard drive an ideal storage solution for businesses that lack a climate-controlled data center. Its ability to provide a low-cost storage capacity solution in a high-availability environment throughout the day also makes it an ideal solution for centralized surveillance and cloud storage. The Seagate Constellation ES ST3500514NS hard drive comes with the new Seagate RAID Rebuild, which protects essential data and minimize productivity losses in mission critical applications. This new RAID technology offers redundancy, which means when a hard drive fails in a RAID 1 array, a redundant data is still recoverable from another internal 500GB hard drive, making it possible to rebuild the RAID array. Even if the HDD’s spindle fails to spin at all, all of its data will be read by other drives and recreated on the spare in the RAID array. This significantly shortens rebuild times and prevents unexpected data losses caused by viruses, malware, or power failures. Most hard drives are known to consume more power, but Seagate Constellation Enterprise ST3500514NS hard drive integrates several power saving options to the hard disk, including PowerChoice, which reduces the HDD’s power consumption in several idleness levels. When put on standby mode, for example, the disk heads are unloaded, and the motor stops the disk from running. On idle mode, the heads are unloaded, but the disk’s spindle keeps spinning, albeit at a reduced RPM. When the default option is selected, the internal HDD goes into several power conditions depending on how long it has been in idle mode. This significantly prevents overworking and promotes a longer lifespan for your internal hard drive. The Seagate Constellation ES ST3500514NS 500GB drive offers a Self-Encrypting Drive security option, providing this enterprise drive with hardware-based encryption that protects stored data when the drive is stolen or lost. The SED feature automatically locks the drive when it is taken out of the system or if the system is turned off. Seagate also includes the Seagate Instant Secure Erase, which erases data and renders them unreadable, ensuring that all critical data cannot be accessed or recovered even if you sell the SATA HDD or send it to recycling. This eliminates physically destroying the drives or overwriting them. Seagate requires end users to validate the product to determine the warranty of a specific drive. A standard period of three years to five years is the minimum warranty for enterprise drives, and it can be extended depending on the specialty of the drive.
