Die Arbeiten von Ola Kolehmainen (*1964, Helsinki) sind eine visuelle Reise durch Raum, Zeit und Licht. Bekannt wurde Kolehmainen, Absolvent der TaiK Universität in Helsinki (University of Art and Design) und einer der erfolgreichsten Vertreter der ersten Generation der »Helsinki School«, mit der Reduktion von Fassaden zu minimalistischen Detailansichten. In seiner neuen Serie setzt der finnische, seit 2005 in Berlin ansässige Fotograf meisterhaft Raum und Licht an Orten in Szene, an denen Glaube praktiziert wird. Inspiriert von seinen Erkundungen islamischer Architektur und Moscheen in Istanbul porträtierte er anschließend Synagogen, Moscheen, Kirchen und Kathedralen quer durch Europa. Kolehmainen arbeitet hier stärker erzählerisch und rückt Ähnlichkeiten, geteilte Geschichte und damit die Universalität von Glauben und Kultur ins Bewusstsein.
