Jurassic Park: Scan Command features a special handheld device that reads ordinary bar codes from any object and converts them into special dinosaur powers. You control one of eight different prehistoric beasts from the Jurassic Park films by scanning barcodes that expand your creature's arsenal of attacks and defenses or by trading collected dinosaur powers with other Scan Commanders. When your dinosaur's power level reaches a certain point, the beast fights real-time battles in seven dynamic game levels against various creatures controlled by evil InGen scientists.<br><br>The new controller of Jurassic Park, Dr. Corts, plans on dominating the world with her genetically altered dinosaurs. You must save the planet by controlling first a Velociraptor, then unlocking different dinosaurs such as Spinosaurs, Triceratops, T-Rex, and more, as you complete levels. By using the scanning peripheral on items found in the game or by scanning any object you can find with a barcode, you give dinosaurs special DNA power boosts. The portable peripheral offers an unlimited source of scans. Visit your local mall, scan objects in your home, or load up with scans at the grocery store (anything with a barcode will do), then return to the computer and plug it in.<br><br>Areas in the game include jungles, swamps, and caves, and the final showdown takes place in an active volcano. In addition to fighting computer-controlled opponents, you can also do battle against other players' barcode-powered dinosaurs. With no blood and non-lethal combat, the game, intended for ages eight and up, offers family-friendly dino-mayhem.
