We heated them up and gave them a chance to stretch a little and used the correct tools where necessary but in the end we found it was better to slightly split them then use the zip ties supplied to hold it together. Also be mindful, the air nipple for the vacuum line pops back and isn't very secure, so ensure you connect and clamp it before you fully seal the boot on the rack or it'll keep coming off
