Assassin's Creed III: Liberation puts gamers in control of Aveline de Grandpré, an Assassin of French and African heritage who battles Spanish forces in the turbulent era leading up to the American Revolution. Set primarily in New Orleans, in a time when the plaçage system linked young multiracial women with wealthy and influential white men, Aveline uses her feminine wiles and humble appearance to surprise and eliminate oppressors who threaten the burgeoning republic. The adventure also takes players through the steamy bayou and into the Mayan ruins of Mexico.<br><br>As with all other titles in the franchise, Liberation provides gamers with a multitude of weapons and assassination techniques, including machetes, dual pistols, and poison-dart blowpipes. Players can also use the Vita's touch screen, rear touch pad, and camera to pull off slow-motion chain kills, pickpocket citizens, pursue targets via canoe, and clamber through the trees to perform assassinations from above. During the course of her adventure, Aveline will cross paths with Assassin's Creed III protagonist Connor Kenway, and those who own both the Vita and PS3 versions can link their two games to unlock special missions, characters, and upgrades.
