Synopsis
Few studies look at the treatment of those inside America's prisons. Discussing race discrimination alongside gender, ethnic, and religious discrimination in contemporary American prisons, this book finds that correctional staff are swayed by stereotypes in their treatment of inmates. The American Dream is that anyone who works hard enough can be successful. It is a dream premised on equal opportunity; however, millions of racial, ethnic, religious, and gender minorities have found their opportunities for success limited--even in prison. What accounts for the discriminatory treatment of people who are already imprisoned? Relying on national data and interviews conducted by the author, this book argues that American prisons are not a tool for justice but a tool for the persecution of the weak by the powerful. The book details how African American, American Indian, and Hispanic inmates receive harsher punishments, including solitary confinement, and fewer rehabilitative programs, such as substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling. It also examines other injustices, including how female inmates suffer from a lack of rehabilitative services, Muslim inmates are placed in solitary confinement for practicing their religious beliefs, American Indians are disproportionately punished, and undocumented immigrants are forced from prison to prison in the middle of the night., The American Dream is that anyone who works hard enough can be successful. The "Latin Classics. Volume 2" CD is brand new, as stated in the ad.The disc itself is of good quality. The CD was packaged in a cardboard box, and unfortunately, the jewel case cracked during transportation and delivery, but the seller compensated for this issue by refunding 20% of the order price. The seller always responds to customer messages, which is very nice. The seller is honest and respectable. I am very pleased with the purchase. Thank you very much! I wish the seller all the best!

The item arrived earlier than expected and with easy shipping; It was carefully packaged and arrived in perfect condition. It's a DVD and I have not played it yet but it is brand new and in sealed packaging. It is what I expected and as described. The price included shipping and was very reasonable. Ordering from another country went very smoothly. Lots of shipping communication. No communication with seller was needed. I am very happy with this seller and definitely recommend them.

Another great Rarewaves purchase. Once again, the DVD I ordered came well-packaged, secure, and exactly as described. Shipping time was the usual two weeks which is understandable. I do consider the price to be fair all said and done. Overall, another great transaction. Thank you.
