Adapted from a novel by John Wyndham, the “The Day of the Triffids” DVD begins with a meteor shower so intensely bright that it blinds the majority of the world's population. As a result, the affected population becomes vulnerable to attacks from hordes of carnivorous plants called “Triffids,” grown from meteor-borne spores. Meanwhile Bill Masen, played by Howard Keel, misses all the action because his eyes are bandaged after an eye operation in this science-fiction flick. As these Triffids continue to multiply and seek human prey in “The Day of the Triffids,” the remaining sighted people join forces to combat the veggie invaders in this science-fiction movie. With a vivid post-apocalyptic setting and brilliant acting by the entire cast, the “The Day of the Triffids” DVD is a must-watch for any sci-fi fan.
