At first it wasn't, so I used a small flat-blade screwdriver wrapped in paper towel with some rubbing alcohol and gently cleaned both sides of the inside of the connectors of the Gameboys and then they were good to go! If this cable doesn't work for you - make sure you clean the connectors on the Gameboys!
