Psychic power has had trouble gaining scientific respectability, but Powell makes a game effort to propose serious consideration of its existence. ... Not about to compromise her credibility by claiming that mind power can levitate tables, Powell adheres to the possibility that human consciousness might affect matter at the quantum mechanical level. Incorporating Powell's knowledge of neuroscience, this work should appeal to those open to the idea that ESP exists., The ESP Enigma will help open people's minds not only to accept what they can't explain but also to learn what is already known about ESP. If we spent more time and money exploring our inner world, we would better understand the mysteries of life., Finally, scientists and laymen alike have a clear and compelling introduction to the controversial world of contemporary psychic and consciousness research. Dr. Powell's The ESP Enigma is destined to become a classic in the field., In this provocative book, Diane Powell has proposed a model of the mind that draws from chaos theory, superstring theory, and various other sources to explain the 'ESP Enigma.' Synopsis
A revolutionary explanation of the link between psychic phenomena and how human consciousness works. Dr. Diane Powell, a prominent Johns Hopkins-trained neuropsychiatrist, examines the evidence for many types of psychic phenomena, from telepathy and precognition to psychokinesis, and finds several well-designed and rigorously supervised studies that prove the existence of some psychic phenomena. The fact that psychic abilities are stronger among prodigies, autistic savants, and some people who are bipolar or have suffered certain brain injuries has led to brain-imaging and other research that can explain which parts of the brain are dominant in psychics and mystics. Dr. Powell proposes a new paradigm for consciousness that would explain psychic phenomena, such as how the mind of a mystic or psychic could have an organizational effect on the physical world. Grounded in decades of reliable scientific research, The ESP Enigma establishes a common ground among psychic phenomena believers and skeptics.

- m***1 (114)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseI think the shipping cost was a bit high, considering the seller is just "over the hill" from me. The product is as described, except that there was writing in the front of the Bible that wasn't shown. The seller listed the product as "acceptable," so I guess that's because of the writing. I may not have purchased the Bible if I had seen the writing. The package was received within a week, but that wasn't necessary as it wasn't something that I needed immediately. Bible cost is ok.
- q***a (179)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseGreat packaging and fast delivery. The only problem was the front hinge endpaper was actually fully torn. This was not pictured truthfully in the original pictures and the description was described as a small tear and not fully torn. I will now need to find someone who can repair the book. Even so the book is still good value.
- p***c (315)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseThe book set arrived before I expected it, carefully packed and in great condition. The four books were as descibed on the site. I am pleased to have these hard-to-find volumes at such a good price. Thank you so much. Great seller!
