In a business context, this can amount to another layer of security as well as improving customer confidence. The Intel Xeon CPU's velocity is backed up by a capable system bus architecture. With a velocity of 702 GT/s QPI, this bus design works in sync with the chip. By eliminating bottlenecks in data traffic, throughput is improved as well as overall system speed. The Xeon E5 is served by Intel's 2011-3 LGA socket. This Land Grid Array design is compatible with both server and desktop motherboards. The socket is designed to connect with 2,011 pins located on the motherboard. It is also compatible with Intel's 2011 motherboard family.The Intel E5's velocity is enhanced by the presence of specialized memory directly on the CPU. Called cache, it includes three levels, which are L1, L2, and L3. The 2620 chip includes 15MB of Level 3 SmartCache nestled close to the processors. The overall effect is to enable the six processing units to quickly access resources, upping performance levels further. Intel's 2620 chip includes Hyperthreading capability. Its cores can handle 12 threads at the same time. This enables the Xeon processors to run a large number of different programs simultaneously.
