I would be hard put to identify the creature it represents, but the simplicity of form marks it more than the sparse painted design. Seller at one point calls it Navajo, then recognizes its clear Hopi origin. The rich red clay and stylized black linear motif mark it plainly. Seller packed it carefully for travel and shipped it promptly, and I’m glad to add it to my animal menagerie.
