Meaning it has been infused with a type of starch that stiffens the fabric, so it is not soft, it is hard and holds its shape, so you can't flatten it, and you can't adjust it. I do like the hat, the color, the fact that it has no seams, but for the price, I hoped it would have a lining, and be more adjustable. It was a little crooked, after getting shipped in a bag & stuffed into my mailbox, but I fixed it.
