Unless you're removing it regularly it won't be an issue and you could lightly sand it if need be. Metal is easy to bend to the angle needed and strong enough to keep it in place. The adhesive is excellent and the install with this mount is much cleaner and allows higher up placement on the windshield than the suction cups.
