This advanced SCSI allows drives to transfer data to the motherboard faster than SATA and parallel SCSI can achieve. These units are also identified as SFF. SFF stands for small form factor. Boasting SAS, SFF, and 10K performance means that these are ideal for an enterprise environment. HP installs them in the performance servers, desktop computers, and laptops they sell. The 619291-B21 ProLiant 10K SAS model has a large 900GB capacity. That’s close to 1 terabyte, or 1 TB, of storage, making it a great option for storing video, pictures, music, and documents. It is also well-suited for enterprise servers and other systems. That makes it a popular option in the Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, or HPE, series systems. These HPE series HDDs can be installed standalone. They can also be mounted in an array for both additional storage space and greater redundancy. In a redundant array, four HPE drives give better access speeds and automatic backup of the 900GB of storage.This HPE ProLiant HDD is quite fast in practically any scenario. Most mechanical drives are either 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm. These drives, on the other hand, deliver 10K performance, which is 10,000 revolutions per minute. Besides being a hard mechanical solution, this type of 10K unit can achieve sequential reads and writes comparable to SSDs. Search times for such a large hard drive are also a consideration. The 10K rpm allows for up to 6GB/s throughput. That means that the entire ProLiant drive can be searched for information in just seconds. These SAS 10K ProLiant drives also have built-in security features, such as password protection. These features can be used standalone or accessed by an enterprise security solution.Although this device naturally fits a hard drive form factor of 2.5 inches, it can also be used in 3.5-inch applications with the use of adapter accessories. Furthermore, these adapters do line up correctly with the drive trays. That means that you can exchange the hard drives without turning off the power. This action is also known as a "hot swap." In addition to internal installation and mounting them in a rack, external enclosures are an option. Simply install these in an enclosure that supports serial attached SCSI. In this scenario, you may not need a SCSI connection on the computer. For instance, the enclosure could connect to the system via USB 3.0.
