Seller Notes: “Very Good. The condition is considerably better than one would expect for a 151-year-old book. As ... “Very Good. The condition is considerably better than one would expect for a 151-year-old book. As you can see from the photographs, the covers have held up quite well. They aren't much soiled, just some dark spots on the spine. Nor are they particularly worn, a small spot of rub through at only one corner, the fraying (with a bit of loss) that you can see at the bottom of the spine. The gilt lettering and design on the spine are faded but visible up close. Somewhat amazingly, the book is Very solidly bound. There are no cracks, no webbing showing. The only writing in the book is an inscription on the front free end paper dated January 1, 1867 (' To Louis Barnes our kind little clothes carrier'. There is a spot of scuffing on the inside cover. There are three full-page black-and-white illustrations, including the frontispiece which still has a tissue guard (darkened) protecting it. Please continue on Condition below.......”
