    I should regard this as a "vanity" case; it will prevent people from seeing what you've got. It's no more than a dust cover, but I suppose it might provide some protection against the rain. I haven't tested it but it feels like it might soak up water rather than repel it. It's made out of some kind of synthetic spongy material which is held together by a Velcro strip. It doesn't entirely cover the top; gaps are left at either side.
