Just spent a week where it was between 20 and 25 at night and this worked without fail. All the guys at the camp were impressed. Plastic cap is the only way to go (no cross threading). Suggest putting few wraps of electrical tape over the clamp fittings so you don't nick your finger. Wish I would have had this years ago.

So the only thing wrong was my fault yours is perfect thank you
