Additional information

Vehicle emission standards are established in Singapore by the Pollution Control Department (PCD) of the National Environmental Agency. With effect from 1 July 1994, all petrol-driven vehicles are required to comply with the exhaust emission standard as specified in either the European Directive 91/441/EEC (CED) or Article 31 of the Japanese Safety Regulations for Road Vehicles. To comply with these emission standards, all petrol-driven vehicles are fitted with catalytic converters.

If you have any particular questions relating to environmental regulations or environmental issues in Singapore, please contact the National Environmental Agency - opens in new window or tab or the The Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) - opens in new window or tab.
