Fix Your HP Mini Netbook With a 10.1-inch LCD Screen
The Hewlett-Packard Mini line of netbooks is a series of miniature Windows laptops that are portable and lightweight, so you can write documents, watch videos, and browse the web while you are on the go. To fit these tiny laptops, the company has created screens that are just 10.1 inches diagonally. If you notice that your device's monitor is no longer working after dropping or spilling water on it, it may be a good idea to get a replacement screen so your laptop can begin working properly again.
What parts are included with the screen?Many LCD panels made by HP come already attached to other components. Depending on the product you select, you may get these items with your laptop screen:
- LCD panel: The liquid crystal display will be a thin, clear panel that uses light-modulating crystals to display items on the computer.
- LED backlight: LED lights are used to create the light that passes through the LCD panel. Most HP devices will have the LCD panel attached to the LED backlight, but it is possible to buy these two parts separately.
- External frame: This is a rectangular piece of plastic that fits around the monitor and helps to mount it on the laptop.
- Hinges: Some monitors that come with an external frame will also include the hinges and wires that connect the top half of the netbook to the lower portion.
- Digitizer: If you have a device with a touchscreen, you may want an option that includes the clear digitizer panel used for translating finger motions into a language the computer can understand.
All options include the same LCD panels, but there can be different coatings applied on the monitor that change its final appearance. You can choose between these two options.
- Glossy: A glossy finish creates a shiny effect. Colors viewed through a glossy finish have high color and contrast, so everything looks bright and deep.
- Matte: These have an anti-glare coating that applies a soft texture over the device. This prevents bright light from reflecting off the panel and obscuring your view of the items on the device.
The resolution for a laptop will tell you how many pixels are involved in the screen. Each individual pixel has the capability of changing color independently, so a higher number of pixels allows for clearer images. It is possible to set the computer to use a lower resolution, but there will be a maximum capability associated with the type of monitor you get. Most monitors have a maximum resolution of 1024 by 576. but there are some higher resolution designs with a resolution of 1366 by 768.
