Seller Notes: “Good condition overall for a book of this age. Main damage is that the spine has come away from the ... “Good condition overall for a book of this age. Main damage is that the spine has come away from the book (see photo), so the pages within are loose. There is corner-bumping, edgewear, rubbing, scratches, and spotting on the gilt-decorated lether-bound book; wrinkling, fraying, and tears at top and tail of spine. Penciled inscription and several other owner's marks inside, including a lovely calligraphic one dated 1848. Paper friable and age-toned / yellowed, with foxing, smudging, spotting, tears, corner bends, etc. All damage appears to be organic though some stains may be from water or other liquid. All edges are gilt. All 10 full-page plates are present though not intact, and it appears remaining pages, including printed ones with varicolored decorated borders, are present (though I didn't check each and every one). No smoky or musty odor but a definite air of aged paper.”
