Very scarce ... “A finely-bound copy of the Stereotyped Edition of this very scarce sensational novel. Very scarce 309 pages. Fine binding in half leather gilt, with marbled boards. In very attractive condition, with slight wear to the corner-tips and spine-ends (see pictures). Signature of P F Cheesewright to front free endpaper. Light browning to endpapers. Binding sound and square. Mary Braddon (1835-1915) was a prolific writer of sensational and supernatural fiction. She scandalously lived with the married publisher John Maxwell for several years before marrying him on the death of his wife. She became very famous with the publication of Lady Audley's Secret in 1862.”
