As an enthusiastic, long-time member of FriendsReunited I was chuffed to be invited to work on the first official book. Though my job was to tell and contextualise the full, remarkable story of Steve and Julie Pankhurst and what became the nation's favourite website, the beating heart of the book remains the stories submitted by FriendsReunited members. It was a pleasure to sift through them and help choose the best ones (some short, others long; happy, sad, funny, the full gamut). They were still coming in by email – in their hundreds! – as we put the book to press. Thanks to FriendsReunited, the past is no longer a foreign country.
