I normally wear orthotics. Can I wear the FitFlop?
The FitFlop has been designed with a regularly shaped footbed, however, the multi-density midsole creates a micro-wobbleboard action that challenges the muscles of the foot and arch, and therefore might not be suitable for everyone who needs orthotics. We recommend that you err on the side of caution and consult your podiatrist prior to wearing FitFlops if you currently rely on orthotic support.

Can I wear FitFlops if I am pregnant?
Again, we'd recommend that pregnant women check with their obstetrician or GP first, before engaging in a fitness routine based around, or a lot of walking in the FitFlop. Because a pregnant woman's tendons can be more susceptible to stretching, minor variances in gait and foot flexion caused by use of the FitFlop might lead to muscle soreness or hyperextension. Note: Walking in FitFlops is an excellent way to get back in shape post-partum.

Are they suitable for a wide fit?
Yes, FitFlops are suitable for a wide foot. Because the FitFlop's footbed is slightly wider than average, they fit pretty much every foot in width. If you have an extremely high instep, you may have to go up a size initially, or spend a few days wearing in the midsole, which custom moulds and compresses to fit your instep height after a couple of days of intensive use.

 

FitFlops are designed for everyday use and everyday walking, to be worn by time-short individuals who may not be able to get to the gym, but want to make sure they get a 'workout while they walk'.

If I am a half size should I go up or down in my FitFlops?
Because FitFlops hold your foot more securely across the instep, FitFlop recommends that you select the size lower than your half size if you are between sizes. Whole sizes should fit quite true to size. FitFlops are designed to be snug around the top of your foot and a comfortable fit between your toes, but as with every shoe, there will be some variance in fit from wearer to wearer.

What if I have a wide or narrow foot?
FitFlop generally recommends that if you have a wide foot that you move up a size, if you have a narrow foot then maybe a size smaller would be more suited. The band (strap) should also be fitted closely to the ‘in step’ and you should not be able to push your fingers between the flesh and the strap. Your foot should fit in a molded fashion. Your foot should not hang over the sole and neither should the sole display any more than 1cm at any given point around the foot.

WARNING: the FitFlop has the potential to increase muscle activity in terms of duration and workload. As such, we recommend that the FitFlop be used progressively to avoid excessive muscle soreness.
