Illustrated in color and black-and-white, this early out-of-print book pictures and describes one hundred Japanese ceramic masterpieces exhibited at the Seattle Art Museum, Washington, and several other major museums in late 1972 and early1973.

CERAMIC ART OF JAPAN – One Hundred Masterpieces from Japanese Collections - “An exhibition of Japanese ceramics from public and private collections in Japan arranged under the joint sponsorship of the Agency for Cultural Affairs of the Japanese Government and the Participating museums in the United States of America.”

In addition to a concise history of Japan and a Ceramic Chronology of Japan, are one hundred photographs with in-depth descriptions of Japanese pottery and porcelain covering a broad span of time. Pictured are vase, bowls and plates, jars, dishes, pitchers and ewers, cups and drinking bowls, bottles, and many other items. The picture’s captions denote dimensions, date, type of pottery and porcelain, and a single-paragraph description of each piece illustrated. There’s a wealth of information in this most informative text which will benefit the collector, dealer, or historian of early Japanese ceramics.
