Seller Notes: “This is an original 18th century professionally made “book safe” which was made, in period, by ... “This is an original 18th century professionally made “book safe” which was made, in period, by modifying the book & cutting out many of the pages. The cover shows considerable wear. There is some warping to the front cover. There are a few small book worm losses to the leather surface of the cover. There is one very early 5/16 inch strip wide by 1 7/8 inches long strip of leather which was used as a reinforcement at the bottom edge of the spine.”
